LLONA RELEASES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SOPHOMORE ALBUM: ON THE ROAD

Following the Breakout Success of his Debut Album, On The Road Reflects on his Historic 25 State Nationwide Tour of Nigeria

Nigerian Afro-fusion artist Llona officially enters a new chapter with the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album, On The Road, available now on all streaming platforms.

Following the success of his acclaimed debut album, Homeless (2024), Llona took an unconventional path for his next project. Rather than returning to the studio, he embarked on a groundbreaking 25-city tour across Nigeria and created much of On The Road while traveling on a bus. Inspired by the people he met, the places he visited, and the experiences he had along the way, the album offers a deeply personal portrait of Nigeria through the eyes of one of the country’s most exciting emerging artists.

This release comes on the heels of a major cosign from Afrobeats icon Davido. Llona is featured on his recent album, Oriadé, on the track “My Light.” Davido said in a recent interview with People Magazine, “The outro of this album features an artist called Llona. He’s huge in Africa, huge in Nigeria, but a lot of people overseas and over here don’t know him,” he explains. “But he’s amazing. He’s an artist I feel should be number one in America. He’s that good. So I’m so happy that people are going to get to know him when the album comes out.”

Llona’s songwriting is woven with unapologetic vulnerability and raw emotion, which has resonated with listeners who relate to him and look up to him as they find their own place in the world. Llona’s lived experiences growing up in Northern Nigeria, combined with his travels across the country, have given him a unique perspective on community, resilience, and the power of music to connect people across different backgrounds.

“This tour meant so much to me to connect with people across the country and share music together,” said Llona. “I hope that this album reflects all I learned on the road and my innermost thoughts that others might relate to.”

On The Road also features collaborations with 4x Grammy-nominated Haitian-American artist Fridayy, acclaimed Ghanaian singer and rapper Black Sherif, and Nigerian singer and songwriter Morrelo.

The album has incredible emotional range. “Look at Me” is about sharing your emotional burden with someone you trust and knowing who’s on your side. “Monster or Not” dives into the negative side of where he comes from, and a nagging wondering if the pain he experienced growing up continues to define him. “Masculine Love” is a love song about defying the stereotypes of toxic masculinity, and embracing love that gives strength and mutual support. “True Colors” is a song about betrayal and someone not being who you thought they were. “What Do I Do” is an anthem about success and gratitude for his dreams coming true, while ensuring that he doesn’t lose himself in the process.

Llona’s artistry is rooted in the rich culture of Northern Nigeria, acknowledging the complexities of the conflict-ridden region. Since the age of nine, he has envisioned music as a vehicle for healing and bridging cultures.

Llona gained widespread recognition with his deeply moving debut album, Homeless, released in 2024. Dubbed a modern classic by culture publications & journalists, this project and the following tour stamped the Kogi-native as a decidedly unique artist who will go to any length for his fans. Prior to his tour, Llona gave his fans free therapy sessions to mark his debut album.

With On The Road, Llona continues to solidify his place as one of Nigeria’s most exciting rising artists. Having built a dedicated audience and accumulated more than a quarter billion streams, he continues to promote meaningful messages of persistence and ambition through his music.
